A peaceful afternoon in Bark Mountain suddenly changes when the alarm sounds: a fast-moving grass fire is burning near the wooden bridge!

Fire Chief Steve, Goose the Fire Dog and the Bark Mountain firefighters race into action. But just as they begin bringing the flames under control, another fire threatens the Maple Bend Diner—and then an even larger wildfire begins moving toward the animal hospital.

With intense heat, thick smoke and burning trees surrounding them, the firefighters must rely on their training, courage and one another. Using hoses, ladders, shovels and teamwork, they battle from one dangerous location to the next to protect the community they love.

Wildfires can spread quickly, changing direction and growing much faster than we expect. That is why firefighters train, check their equipment and practise working together before an alarm ever sounds.

In this story, Fire Chief Steve, Goose and the Bark Mountain firefighters face a long and difficult day. They become tired, hot and thirsty, but they continue helping because their community, its animals and one another are depending on them.
